FIRST RESPONDER

Stopped at a red light the other day I heard the noise of brakes, tires screeching, and a collision. I looked to my right and barely a block away the cars had collided and blocked up two or three lanes of traffic. It did not seem that anyone was going to the scene to check for signs of life and the two people I did see were looking at the badly damaged car...instead of the woman that appeared to be trapped in the other vehicle. Immediately I pulled over and walked as quickly as possible to the injured lady. The other people standing around seemed to be quite unconcerned, not asking her any questions. As I opened her door it was obvious the woman was a little more than shook up. A few of her fingers were broken or badly fractured, a few of her ribs were fractured, (this info was confirmed as I called her after she had returned home from the hospital to make sure she was okay) and she had taken a nasty hit to the face. After getting her name and asking a few questions about where she wa...

WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR?

You and I will be very wise to stay grounded in the deep love of God's Holy word. Turn off the soap operas. Stop listening to those friends who are not really friends (if they are encouraging you to do something contrary to God's word.) Without His word we are lost, confused, not sure what we are doing here, following a lie, or coming up with our own set of plans. Apart from Jesus we can do nothing. Every now and then I think it is wise to review--- WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR? Tell the truth. Your own happiness? Pleasures and gratification? Financial gain? What you want or for the will of God? "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 16:25

CONSTANT WAVES

I wonder how many of us have resolved not to cause any waves? Everything is shaky, unstable, subject to change. All will be shaken that can be shaken. Even the waves of the sea have been given a boundary line by God, "This is how far you go and no further." The Lord God who made us has given us boundary lines for our own good. At any given time we will be reaping consequences or a blessing from the choices that we choose to make. Sitting on the shore yesterday I was hoping to soak my swollen knee in the beautiful emerald waves. The reality of my circumstance seemed more like I was getting thrashed by the salt water repeatedly (getting a beating I was), strong sucking pull dragging me down the sandpaper shoreline (it's hard to hold onto sand for stability), and I still attempted to think healing thoughts as my eyes were burning from all the slaps (splashes) to the face. All those who are godly in Christ Jesus will endure tribulation. Yes we are to keep the peace with all m...

REAL COMBAT

Taking every thought captive and making it obedient to Christ. Daily renewing your mind. Clothing yourself in true humility. Putting on the whole armor or Christ. Resisting the devil. Showing forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Purifying your souls by obeying the truth through the Holy Spirit. Loving one another with a pure heart fervently. Speak evil of no man. Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. Endure grief. When you suffer take it patiently. Be dead to sin, live unto righteousness. Make it your aim, your goal to please Him, the One who has called you and chosen you before the foundations of the world.

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS

THOUGHTS FROM GEORGE WINKELMAN AND SUNRISE MINISTRIES--- Caught up in the pursuit of power and pleasure, Babylon believed in it's own greatness and claimed to be the only power on earth. Babylon felt completely secure, and Nebuchadnezzar, its king, exalted himself as a god. But the true God taught King Nebuchadnezzar a powerful lesson by taking everything away from him. (Daniel 4:28-37). Our society is addicted to pleasure and power, but these can quickly pass away. Look at your own life and ask your self, how can you be more responsible with the talents and possessions God has given you. How can you use your life for God's honor rather than your own? The people of Babylon sought advice from astrologers and star- gazers. But like the idols of wood or gold, they could not even deliver themselves from what was to come from the hands of God. Why rely on those who are powerless ?. The helpless can not help us. Alternatives to God are destined to fail. If you want help, find it in ...

THE MIND OF CHRIST

May the mind of Christ, my Savior, Live in me from day to day, By His love and power controlling All I do and say. May the Word of God dwell richly In my heart from hour to hour, So that all may see I triumph Only through His power. May the peace of God my Father Rule my life in everything, That I may be calm to comfort Sick and sorrowing. May the love of Jesus fill me As the waters fill the sea; Him exalting, self abasing, This is victory. May I run the race before me, Strong and brave to face the foe, Looking only unto Jesus As I onward go. May His beauty rest upon me, As I seek the lost to win, And may they forget the channel, Seeing only Him. by Kate B. Wilkinson (1913)
