FIRST RESPONDER

Stopped at a red light the other day I heard the noise of brakes, tires screeching, and a collision. I looked to my right and barely a block away the cars had collided and blocked up two or three lanes of traffic. It did not seem that anyone was going to the scene to check for signs of life and the two people I did see were looking at the badly damaged car...instead of the woman that appeared to be trapped in the other vehicle. Immediately I pulled over and walked as quickly as possible to the injured lady. The other people standing around seemed to be quite unconcerned, not asking her any questions. As I opened her door it was obvious the woman was a little more than shook up. A few of her fingers were broken or badly fractured, a few of her ribs were fractured, (this info was confirmed as I called her after she had returned home from the hospital to make sure she was okay) and she had taken a nasty hit to the face. After getting her name and asking a few questions about where she was hurting or pained, I told her I had been in a headon collision about six weeks ago and the Lord had restored me. I asked her if she would mind if I prayed for her. (When people realize the wreck they are in it becomes severely clear their only hope is in the Lord.) The emergency people arrived there shortly after and took her to the hospital and cleaned up the debris.

Couldn't help but think about our place as the Body of Christ, children of the Living God. We should always be FIRST RESPONDERS. The man that came to my side at the scene of the accident I was in was a man of God from Missouri. I am glad and thankful that he stopped and spoke life over my mind and body and encouraged me when I was unable to move or even lift my own head.

Oh that God's people would love His word and take hold of it for the life that it is! The world needs to hear the name of Jesus and feel the power of His presence. If we are not surrendering ourselves completely to His protection...and fail to call on the name of our King in circumstances that are too great for us how can we expect a lost and dying world around us to cry out and call on His name and be saved?

STAY ALERT. READ GOD'S WORD. PRAY. Be a FIRST RESPONDER.
