LIGHT NOT FLUFFY

Wicked is not cool. I'm just saying...read the dictionary. Read the Word of God with a magnifying glass or binoculars, do a word search on biblegateway.com. Might shed some light on just about everything that we welcome into our thoughts so passively every day of our lives. Compromising can be addictive and subtle huh? Little by little and before you know it - it owns you. Influencing every area of your life, directing your choices, keeping you from true devotion.

"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes..." Psalm 101:3

Yes, I understand that this is a new millenium. I also realize that there is nothing new under the sun. Humanity worships all sorts of things. Worship is adoring reverence or regard for any person or thing. If we are not retaining The Word of God it our minds, or making it a habit to frequently think about and put into action the truth of what we have already learned --- It is quite a possibility that it has become easier for us to adopt and embrace the ways of the world. It might be less and less apparent to us for seasons at a time, because we are right in the middle of others who have absolutely no regard for the things of God. Compared to them we look like saints (at least in our own minds). But the eyes of the Lord search throughout the whole earth to see a heart that is fully devoted to Him. DO WE TREMBLE AT HIS WORD? Or do we laugh and pay no mind?

Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]--these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].

And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever.
I John 2:15-17

The people of Noah's day laughed and mocked and ignored. I'm sure they were confident that they had all the time in the world, and Noah was an idiot for listening to and taking refuge in His God. The truth was a flood, it destroyed the wicked, those who had lived their lives as if there was no God. The people of Jonah's day listened to the warning, fasted and prayed, humbled themselves and turned from their wicked ways. They lived to tell of the goodness of the Lord. They realized their choices do matter. God does care what you say and do. God keeps His word, but like a gracious, loving, understanding Father He warns us first.
