HAPPY IS THE MAN

..."Children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:3-5

On this note - please be warned. Some of you may not take to kindly to these thoughts, might make you feel uncomfortable, and possibly even offended. May God help us all to listen and obey and not exalt our own opinions, preferences, and what others might think above the Word of God.

Be Fruitful and Multiply. Translation: MAKE BABIES. Why? Children are an inheritance from the Lord. So how can we possibly say that we cannot afford them? Or do not plan on having any more? Hmmm. Interesting. I think somewhere along the line even some of us in the church have embraced the world's standards. One, two, maybe three at the very most. Ohh okay. Well, maybe we need to scratch out the part of the verse that says, "HAPPY IS THE MAN THAT HATH HIS QUIVER FULL OF THEM." Surely it had to be typo or that was just what they believed back then.

Since I have been reading the dictionary lately please allow me to share the meaning of the word FULL. Full means to utmost capacity, completely filled, to the greatest extent. Whoa...that's alot! Rewards. Inheritance. Happy is the man...

...who obeys God and keeps His commands. Be fruitful and multiply. Clearly family is God's plan, not family planning. God is the one who opens and closes the womb, sounds like a great plan to me. Back in the day (and still some today) it was considered a curse not to be able to have many babies. Wow. Something is backwards nowadays. Today if you have more than a few children people are wanting to commit you to a mental hospital or get you counseling. And then more than a few people are on anti-depressants because they are not happy. Excuse me for being so direct, but controlling your own life is despressing. God created you (in the covenant of marriage) to make babies, not pop pills, wear rubbers, or find a way to delay or possibly avoid creating life.

Trusting God is always the best plan ---ever. If God knows how many hairs are on your head, do you not think that He is able to know how many children you should have? So no birth control for me thanks. The only type of control I hope to possess is the fruit of the spirit, self control. Other than that it is my desire and prayer for all of us as children of God that we submit fully to the authority and instruction of the Word of God. And be controlled by the Holy Spirit and not the spirit of the world in all of our life's decisions.
