James 5:14,15 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Over the years I have found myself in conversations with people of all ages, who claim to follow the Jesus of the Bible. Yet, it seemed they did not have a clue as to their rights as heirs according to the promises of God. The Blood of Jesus is a foreign subject in many Christian gatherings. Covenant has been replaced with the traditions of man and the philosophies of this age. (Colossians 2:7-8)
This might be hard to take for those who are dependant on medications or whose life is defined by their past or present diagnosis. Symptoms are symptoms, I understand. Nothing necessarily makes them feel any less real. But I would like to encourage you as a Child of God to begin to pray for discernment. We are to test every spirit to make sure it is of God, the truth. We have fallen into a trap of trusting the word of man and letting that be our deciding factor, and maybe as far as some things are concerned we might believe in God...but not when it comes to our health. Have we been deceived by the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy? Have we denied Him who came to give us life and life more abundantly?
2 Chronicles 16:12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
Yes, the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. The enemy is still roaming around seeking whom he may devour. We are exhorted by the Word of God to RESIST THE ENEMY. I think you might agree with me that if we were resisting the enemy, then we would not be making agreements with him. Agreements are subtle lies, suggestions of something other than what God has said, questioning what Jesus' has done, doubts, confusion, unbelief. Let's call it what it is - SIN.
ANALOGY: You are married. In a covenant relationship. You have vowed to be faithful until death do you part. You are the wife and you have certain needs and things that come up, matters of importance you need to take care of. Instead of going to your husband (the provider) and allowing him to do what he desires and is pleased to do. You go to someone else (a stranger, a substitute), who cannot possibly meet your needs like they were meant to be met by your covenant partner. Would you stop to ask yourself, do you not believe that your husband can and will provide for you? Or are you unwilling to receive and allow him to meet your needs? Substitutes are usually counterfeits that temporarily passify, never actually meeting the need but making it worse.
How heartbroken would you be if you were the husband and you had given all that you had so that she would not want for anything, but your wife has chosen to be unfaithful and put her trust in anothers ability to give her what she needs? And yet, she is still in need. This is the state of the Body of Christ, the Church. The head is still the head is still the head. Christ Jesus. We as members of the Body have chosen to listen to outside suggestions and have adopted an idenity that is far from true. We have been unbelieving, an adulteress. We must repent and return to Him who is faithful and true!
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
Revelations 21:8
You can think I am being extreme. But to the person that is drowning, a life-line is what they need, not some false accessment of their situation to make them feel not-so-bad about their immediate crisis. The day and time will come and could possibly be not so far away...when all the things that people put their trust and hope in will utterly fail and cease to exist. What cozy little bit of advice will you have to offer then? God is ever merciful. He has given us chance after chance after chance to love the truth and quit holding hands with the enemy.
