IDLE SPEED - NO WAKE

So today I was out kayaking. Very beautiful day enjoying God's creation. Dolphins at one point were close enough for me to touch with my paddle. I was wondering if they were going to touch me, as in, flip my inflatable kayak. Whoa. Fins everywhere. One came up out of the water and I sincerely believe it was just as big as the device I was floating on. Fear not I said to myself, they are just dolphins. Nevermind the mad stirrings of the water and the multitude of fins swarming about. Clearly they were hungry and had just apprehended their lunch...

After a while I paddled on. I saw a sign that read: IDLE SPEED - NO WAKE. I started thinking about all the ways that the sign could apply to every day life. It does seem that I run across quite a few people that are living at IDOL SPEED and NOT AWAKE. Or who seem to make it their priority to not cause any waves, as if that is a bad thing. I believe there is alot more that could be said about this, but I know you can ponder it on your own.

1 John 5:21
Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.

I understand the message, that is the point you are trying to make. It is also funny how God can use a funny occurrence like dolphins to get our attention on the main message. No Idols! Its as simple as that. I guess God does have a sense of humor and he must like dolphins. Heh!
